Happy 4th of July!

Claudine Williams on July 3rd, 2008

Everyone, please keep safe while enjoying those fireworks. Get out to the parks, beaches, and other gathering spots early. You know that everything is going to be packed and crowded. Keep small children away from harmful fireworks, please. Monitor your children and others’ children at all times. Remember, when it’s too quiet, they may be up to something…

Please make sure that you and your family have plenty of water. If the temperature is warm where you are, it’s probably going to be hotter than you think. Some areas may need the rain, but I hope that the rain holds off just until the holiday is over. That also reminds me to remind you all to be careful of lighting fireworks near dry brush. If fireworks are not allowed in your area, please don’t light them.

Don’t drink and drive. Every year a number of people die during automobile accidents around the holidays. Even if you think that you are okay to drive, don’t do it. A smart person asks someone else who has not been drinking to do the driving. If you are with someone who has been drinking and they want to or insist on driving, be brave and don’t get in the vehicle. You may be saving your own life. Don’t worry about hurting anyone’s feelings, and don’t believe that person when they say that they are okay to drive. People who end up in fatal car accidents due to drinking and driving were on the road because they thought that they could handle their liquor, beer, or whatever.

Okay. That’s enough preaching from me. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Weigh In Wednesday!

Claudine Williams on July 2nd, 2008

I didn’t go to the gym at all last week and this week so far. I have been walking, doing a lot of walking. Yesterday, I took my poodle to the park and he basically walked me. I was sweating by the time I finished the 1+ miles and I felt exhausted. I know that […]

I Found the Cabbage Patch

While driving through Georgia to get to Helen, I saw a curious sign!
There was a huge picture of a stork with the notice that babies were delivered daily. I couldn’t help but turn the corner and check this place out. It turns out the Cleveland, Georgia, the small town a little ways from […]

Cool Sounds with Az-Izz

Claudine Williams on June 28th, 2008

This Thursday, I hung out with the band Az-Izz at the Peachtree Tavern in Atlanta. You may have heard them perform on cruise lines. They play R&B, jazz, country, hip hop… You name it. Az-Izz band members are also cool to hang around. They are just a bunch of good, down-to-earth guys who are extremely […]

Tybee Island

Claudine Williams on June 24th, 2008

I ended up having to choose between going to Hilton Head or Tybee Island. I chose Tybee Island. Thanks to the nice ladies at the Inn at Mulberry Grove, 101 O’Leary Road, for making the recommendation. You rock! Tybee is cool because it’s colorful but not too commercial. I think that’s why so many people […]

On the River in Savannah, Georgia

Claudine Williams on June 24th, 2008

In addition to touring downtown Savannah, I headed down to the river, strolling along and peaking into shops. My favorite shop was the Praline Candy Store. I was tempted to buy a few pounds of chocolate, but I resisted. It was hot and humid in Savannah. I was so thirsty that I would have gladly […]
