Plan a trip to Miami

Claudine Williams on May 12th, 2008

doolittle Miami is hot in more ways than one. Most people want to head out to the beaches, which are great for tanning and people-watching. It does get scorching hot in Miami and the humidity is out of this world. So, it’s best to visit the beaches early in the morning or in the evening.

Parking

The City of Miami Operates 64 surface parking lots. Rates for the surface lots are $1 per hour and $8 is the most you would pay. You could buy a monthly parking permit for the surface lots for $74.90

There are also several parking garages to choose from. Here are the rates for parking garages in Miami. Parking in the garages range from $1 for one hour to $4 for 3-4 hours. You can also pay a flat fee of $15 for a full day.

Directions to Miami Beach

Plan before you go to the beach, here are some detailed directions to Miami Beach.

Here are also some Miami maps

Getting Around Miami

Some buses run every half-hour and some run every hour in Miami. There are buses that run more frequently in the tourist areas. Metrobus  is the public transportation in Miami. Extremely cool! Miami has a Train Tracker so you can see where your train is located. Access it via your web-enabled mobile phone, iphone, etc. The public transportation includes a rail system and buses. Just in case you get stuck and need a taxi, Fodor’s has a few phone numbers to taxi services in Miami . There are places to visit in Miami addition to the beach!

  1. Good information. I like beaches in Miami, like the way people dress and like Miami Vice. Good movie

  2. Miami is actually my hometown! I’m glad that you like it.

  3. I was in Miami about a year ago for a business trip. It was nice, but really REALLY too hot/humid for me (I’m a Cali girl through and through!). But a good thing to note would be that taxis from downtown to South Beach average about $25 and is a good, relatively direct and fast way to travel around.

I recommend the Mariott downtown connected to the Miami Convention Center as a good hotel.
