The Largest Aquarium in the World, The Georgia Aquarium

Claudine Williams on June 9th, 2008

The Georgia Aquarium is the largest in the world with 8 million gallons of water and more aquatic life than any other aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium is also a wonderful family attraction. Children have the opportunity to have a hands-on experience by touching some of the animals in the touch pool. The marine-life is incredible. The whale sharks are enormous. The largest measured whale shark known is about 40 feet. Whale sharks have 300 rows of tiny teeth.

Family Fun at the Georgia Aquarium

Children will also love the 4D theater. They will watch a short movie with 3D glasses and feel vibrations in their seats and experience other surprises. The Georgia Aquarium will help expose your children to animals that they may never see otherwise. They will ooooh and ahhh at the cute otters and experience the thrill of walking through a glass tunnel, surrounded by marine life. The Georgia Aquarium is so large, that they can easily get close-up views of the fish, sharks, and whales.

There is also a play center with a giant slide. Interactive skits help children become a part of the action in indoor shows. In fact, most of the viewing windows are inside, so you don’t have to worry about being exposed to the Atlanta heat or rain. There’s also plenty to eat at the Georgia Aquarium and the food is reasonable. I had a small pepperoni pizza for about $6. Burgers, fries, and fruit can also be purchased.

Parking

There is a huge free, parking garage near the Georgia Aquarium, actually it’s right next to the aquarium. It cost $10 to park there. You can save a dollar and pay only $9 by clicking here and paying for parking in advance.
