I Found the Cabbage Patch

Claudine Williams on July 1st, 2008

While driving through Georgia to get to Helen, I saw a curious sign!

There was a huge picture of a stork with the notice that babies were delivered daily. I couldn’t help but turn the corner and check this place out. It turns out the Cleveland, Georgia, the small town a little ways from Helen, is where about 70 or so work at home moms craft actual Cabbage Patch Kids. This is the original home of the Cabbage Patch Kids and where Xavier Roberts, a former young art student developed them.

  1. That is the coolest thing! I love these types of facts and I love that Xazier Roberts kept his business home to support the ladies in town. I love it.

  2. I loved this! Thank you for sharing. Brings back memories, I remember my CP doll. My 8 year old loved the baby being birthed from the tree. My 7 year old now says, “I would like to have a CP doll.”

  4. I love this! I adored CP dolls and it was great to be taken to their birth place :) What an excellent trot down memory lane.
